Head teacher Kaberi Gop has been temporarily suspended for allegedly cutting off students’ hair at the Vedarganj upazila of Shariatpur. Shariatpur District Primary Education Officer Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter in a letter signed by the Dhaka Divisional Deputy Director on Wednesday afternoon. The accused is the head teacher of DMKhali Board Government Primary School, No. 27, in Kabari upazila.
It is learned that the head teacher Kaberi cut the hair of the fifth grade student with the secret office. News was circulated in various media on the issue. Later, District Primary Education Officer Abul Kalam Azad, Upazila Assistant Education Officer Mashiul Azam Hirak and Md. Ghulam Mostafa Mia was ordered to investigate the incident and submit a report. On Monday, after submitting the report to the district elementary education officer, they received the report.
On the same day, the District Education Officer submitted a report to the Dhaka Divisional Deputy Director recommending departmental action. According to the report, the Dhaka Divisional Deputy Director of Primary Education on Wednesday dismissed the accused head teacher temporarily. The district’s primary education officer, Abul Kalam Azad, said, “We received a letter from the accused on Wednesday afternoon ordering a temporary dismissal.” Upazila education officials have been instructed to take action on the matter.
